Business success should create a wider legacy.
We believe successful businesses have a responsibility to create opportunities that extend beyond commercial outcomes. The success of our client work enables us to invest in people, support social mobility and contribute meaningfully to the communities we serve.
A responsibility we carry alongside every engagement.
Purpose Beyond Projects is one of the pillars we hold ourselves to - not a separate initiative, but part of how we measure success.
CSR-A Gold Accredited - independently verified, not self-declared.
Gold is the highest level of recognition awarded under the Corporate Social Responsibility Accreditation scheme, reserved for organisations that demonstrate exceptional performance across environmental sustainability, employee wellbeing, ethical governance and community impact.
Our highest external validation of how we do business.
Achieving Gold status required comprehensive independent assessment and clear evidence that responsible business practices are embedded throughout Chapter Five Consulting - not just written into policy. It sits alongside our environmental, workplace and community commitments below as proof that our approach to CSR is verified year after year.
Community partners around our Kingston Upon Thames home.
We support local charities, civic organisations and national skills initiatives - contributing time, resources and expertise alongside our client work.
Environment, workplace and community.
As a business we ensure we make a tangible difference, and we hold ourselves accountable to live that out every day. We take our responsibilities seriously, we measure what we do, and we keep pushing to do better because the way we do business matters just as much as the work we do. We are proud of this progress, and we recognise there is more still to do.
Reducing our footprint, deliberately.
As a small IT consultancy, our most significant environmental impact sits in energy use, travel, procurement and waste.
Responsible technology
Our laptops are all refurbished, keeping toxic waste out of landfill and saving enormous amounts of water and carbon in the process.
Waste & resource efficiency
Day-to-day, the small things matter too - reusable bottles, bamboo coffee cups, zero printing, and shopping locally wherever we can.
Culture
We hold monthly sessions with our team to keep sustainability front of mind, not just front of policy.
Supply chain & circular economy
We buy locally, apply sustainability criteria in all supplier selection, and support circular economy initiatives in our local community.
A place people can grow into.
Our success depends on continuous learning, ethical leadership and a healthy workplace culture, so we have built these commitments into the everyday rhythm of the business rather than treating them as separate from it.
Workplace environment
We've built a workplace where our team genuinely thrives through flexible working, ergonomic spaces, and a culture rooted in respect, inclusion and psychological safety.
Learning, development & growth
Through structured learning pathways, monthly full-day training sessions, mentoring, and access to stretch projects, we invest deeply in every individual's journey.
Leave
We believe well-rested, well-rounded people make the best consultants - which is why, alongside a generous holiday policy, we encourage volunteering and celebrate birthdays and work anniversaries as paid days off.
Ethics
We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards for fair pay, transparent processes, zero tolerance for discrimination, and a genuine commitment to human rights across everything we do - supported by an Acas-aligned conduct process and a SpeakUp mailbox monitored directly by our CSR Director.
Depth over breadth.
We would rather build a small number of long-term partnerships than spread ourselves across many one-off gestures, which is why nearly all of our community and philanthropic effort runs through a single long-term relationship with City Changer Projects in Kingston.
Community impact through City Changer Projects
From day one, giving back has been part of who we are. City Changer Projects does remarkable work across the community, from emergency food and fuel support, to mental health services, employability programmes, and support for young mothers.
Financial support
For the past three years, we have provided financial support which we have increased year on year, reflecting our growing investment in the charity's work supporting families moving away from food poverty.
Volunteering
Our involvement goes beyond our monthly financial support. Our team volunteers at the local Foodbank every month, and we've contributed hands-on to building the Abbey Coffee shop.
Work experience & employment support
We developed a structured work experience and training framework in partnership with EmploymentWorx, designed to create meaningful employment pathways for its clients - opening real doors for people who need it most.
Responsibility isn't something we set aside for a report. It's in the fleet we drive, the laptops we choose, the charity we show up for every month, and the way we treat the people we work alongside. We don't do these things because they're expected of us - we do them because we believe how we work matters as much as the work itself. There is more we want to do, and we'll keep building on it, but we're genuinely proud of what has already become part of how this business runs.
